Metro Area Duct Bank Improvement Program

Metro Area Duct Bank Improvement Program

In most urban areas, power is typically delivered through an underground network. The major advantage of underground electrical infrastructure is increased reliability because it is not exposed to the elements or potential damage from accidents and storms. However, underground systems are often difficult to access, maintain, or expand. Through our work with a major provider throughout Michigan, Wade Trim delivers electrical duct bank, manhole, and vault design services to support planned or as-needed improvements in these densely populated areas.

Aging duct banks and manholes, capacity and location limitations, and spatial and system growth pose challenges. Wade Trim works with the utility to plan, map, engineer, and design system improvements necessary to maintain operations and meet customer demand. Projects include Right-of-Way (ROW) surveys, manhole structural inspections and equipment inventories, feasibility analyses, duct bank routing, manhole and duct bank engineering, permitting, and construction inspection. Wade Trim’s experience in electric, gas, stormwater, water, sanitary, steam, and communications utilities provides the expertise needed for working within ROWs congested with utilities that are typical of these projects.
