An annual infrastructure improvement program is critical to maintaining the City of Plymouth’s historic charm and thriving downtown that draw residents, businesses and visitors. Wade Trim serves as the City Engineer for the program and has provided design and construction phase services for water main, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, asphalt and concrete street reconstruction, and parking lot improvement projects since 1998. We know the community well and have a proven track record of delivering the City’s infrastructure improvements on time and within budget.
Each program year a group of residential streets is identified for improvement. Wade Trim begins by completing a full pre-design topographic survey and mapping of the street right-of-way and adjacent front property area in advance of the design phase. Survey crews typically set horizontal and vertical control using GPS or total station technology and use a total station for data collection due to the mature tree canopy along many of the City’s residential streets. Most of the residential streets are designed with asphalt pavement, new aggregate base, and concrete curb and gutter, along with new concrete drive approaches and sidewalk upgrades. We follow complete street guidelines. Roadway and sidewalk ramp designs meeting ADA compliance are also completed.
For most of the programs, utility designs are completed for the replacement of old, cast iron water main with new 8-inch ductile iron main. Video inspection of the underground infrastructure is used to identify and design repairs to the City’s aging sanitary sewer. Repairs primarily focus on sections that show structural deficiencies or partial blockages. In addition, sewer system improvements received a boost from the successful pursuit of grant funding through the State’s Stormwater, Asset Management and Wastewater (SAW) program.
Wade Trim has also assisted the City with ordinance reviews, site plan reviews, engineering reviews, easement preparation, intergovernmental agreements, City Hall Master Plan, Recreation Master Plan, Downtown Development Authority projects, and Cultural Center improvements.
