To enhance Crego Park’s unique character and meet the City of Lansing’s desires, Wade Trim used advanced sustainable and resilient design features to create a peaceful, passive park that builds on the previous cleanup of site contamination. Hardscape features were sited within existing open areas to minimize impact on the park’s natural features. The waterfront’s steep banks were recontoured and native plantings were used to reduce ongoing maintenance costs and increase fishing access. Pervious pavement was specified for the parking areas to improve stormwater quality and reduce stormwater discharges. Wade Trim designed the project to meet accessibility requirements, including lowering railings in specific areas along the fishing pier and incorporating an accessible canoe and kayak launch along the Fidelity Lake shoreline.
