The Wade Trim Foundation is pleased to announce its 2024 grant recipients. Five $5,000 grants have been awarded to deserving non-profit organizations whose projects help create stronger communities.
The BRONX RIVER ALLIANCE works to protect, improve, and restore the Bronx River corridor to make a healthy ecological, recreational, educational, and economic resource for all communities through which the river flows. Metal shipping containers dotting the Bronx River are used to store Bronx River Alliance program supplies. Their grant will be used to remodel a container in Concrete Plant Park. The remodel will include a green roof for rainwater management and expansion of pollinator habitat, increasing the beauty of the park and educating visitors on the positive impact of green infrastructure.
The CITY OF ST. JOHNS’ mission is to promote a broad, year-round range of quality indoor and outdoor recreational opportunities to City residents of all ages and physical and mental abilities and encourage inter-generational participation in all activities. Their grant will support the renovation of a 20-year-old play structure in Main City Park. Fantasy Forest 2.0 will be a modern, universally accessible structure that all people can use to be active, stay healthy, and play with their peers.
MACOMB COUNTY ROTATING EMERGENCY SHELTER TEAM (MCREST) provides homeless and displaced individuals emergency solutions and housing resources, so they can successfully transition to independence. Nine bathrooms within MCREST’s 45-bed homeless shelter for women and children will be renovated with this grant. Improvements are intended to offer a sense of security, stability, and normalcy to residents by creating a better living environment.
MCHS FAMILY OF SERVICES is a child welfare agency providing foster care and adoption, transitional living, child abuse prevention, and community wellness programs. Their grant will help furnish MCHS’s newly renovated Delaware property on their Redford Campus. The property will create an expanded, cohesive space and welcoming environment for the Child Welfare, Adoption, and Unaccompanied Children programs and the families they serve.
SAGINAW-SHIAWASSEE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Their grant will help support the Covenant Neighborhood Revitalization project, which focuses on empowering residents using various housing solutions, such as lead remediation, priming, and painting.
