The Wade Trim Engineering Scholarship was established to promote the engineering profession and provide financial support to students pursuing careers in civil or environmental engineering. Administered by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Research Institute and ACEC/Michigan, the scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving college student who has completed their freshman year and is enrolled in an ABET-accredited engineering program. Recipients are selected based on their work experience, extracurricular and community involvement, references, and academic performance.

The 2025 Wade Trim Engineering Scholarship recipient is Abigail Zola, a junior at Eastern Michigan University studying civil engineering. Abigail is a Division I student-athlete on EMU’s rowing team, founder and president of EMU’s American Society of Civil Engineers chapter, and a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. She is passionate about sustainable engineering practices and integrating environmentally conscious solutions into her future career. Abigail received her scholarship at the ACEC/Michigan Engineering & Surveying Excellence Awards Gala on March 8.
